Paint Protection Film

Think of it as a thick clear contact, like the kind your mum would have wrapped your school books with or a phone screen protector! Manufacturers are using less and less paint during production, it is getting harder to maintain and care for your vehicle. With less paint thickness, you don’t have the ability to continually cut and polish paintwork like old paint thicknesses would allow. Paint Protection Film acts as a physical barrier to protect your paint from anything that that harsh environment can throw at it!

PPF has a flexible component in the film called thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU). A combination of hard and soft co-polymers reacts to rebind and retain their shape causing the film to reseal and heal themselves with the assistance of heat. As long as the scratch doesn’t exceed the top layer of the film it will disappear with the heat of the sun.

We take the most care possible during our installs and have purpose built clean rooms, but there is no way we can guarantee a flawless install. The aim is to have no defects visible from 1m away from the car. Given the complexities of the shape and the nature of working with film, there can be joins and relief cuts

Vinyl is usually applied for stylistic improvements with minimal protection. Vinyl will protect the paint from the harsh UV rays however it does not eliminate the risk of stone chips, scratches or water stainage. In Australia's harsh climate, a vinyl life expectancy is 3yrs to a maximum of 7 years. A Ceramic Coating is a liquid polymer that is applied to the exterior surfaces of a vehicle. After application, it chemically bonds with the vehicle’s factory paint, establishing a layer of protection. A ceramic coating carries hydrophobic qualities and adds to the overall shine of the paint work. Despite the wild claims of some manufacturers and installers, a ceramic coating does not reduce the risk of stone chips, scratches, nor water spots. Whereas, PPF is thicker than ceramic coatings and vinyl, it is a physical film that acts as a barrier. PPF has a chemical composition that allows it to self-heal; that is, it returns to its original form after receiving an indentation or abrasion. Ceramic coatings and vinyl can not achieve this. These qualities make PPF able to absorb stone chips, scratches, and water stainage without being permanently disfigured making it the toughest of all protective options available on the market.

PPF is incredibly tough. It can easily handle the Australian temperature, withstand unlimited lantana & tree branches. However, it is not bulletproof. The film can be penetrated if there is enough force/sharp enough object. It is there to be a sacrificial layer to your paintwork, it is unlikely the damage will get through to the paintwork. Simply remove and replace that one panel, fuss free

PPF will not damage paintwork if the paint is correctly adhered to the panel. The only reason PPF would take paint off the vehicle is if there is a respray or paintwork that has not been correctly prepped and baked.
